Dams Of The West: ‘Youngish American’ Out Today

DAMS OF THE WEST’S DEBUT ALBUM ‘YOUNGISH AMERICAN’ OUT TODAY ON 30TH CENTURY RECORDS/COLUMBIA
ON EXTENSIVE U.S. TOUR WITH BLACK JOE LEWIS, PLAYING SXSW NEXT MONTH

DOW - Apple (with copy)

Dams of the West – the solo project of Vampire Weekend drummer Chris Tomson – released their debut album ‘Youngish American’ today, via 30th Century Records/Columbia. The 10-song collection is streaming now on Spotify, and is available for download at iTunes: http://smarturl.it/YoungishAmerican

Produced by Patrick Carney of the Black Keys, ‘Youngish American’ was born after a long run of Vampire Weekend dates, when Tomson found himself at home with an empty calendar for the first time in years, grappling with early-30s ennui and domesticity. Written entirely by Chris, who plays virtually every instrument on the record, the new music has already received raves:

“On par with Courtney Barnett and Kurt Vile in the ranks of our most affable, self-aware observers” –Brooklyn Magazine
“[Tomson] is a clever and insightful songwriter overflowing with ideas” –Stereogum
“Spry and life-questioning” –FADER
