CHRIS TOMSON’S DAMS OF THE WEST UNVEILS “THE INERRANCY OF YOU AND ME” + VIDEO; STREAMING NOW VIA STEREOGUM: http://bit.ly/2jcfgZe

CONFIRMS 2017 TOUR SUPPORTING BLACK JOE LEWIS

This morning, Dams of the West – the solo project of Vampire Weekend drummer Chris Tomson – shared new track “The Inerrancy of You and Me.” The song is accompanied by a music video directed by Tomson’s wife Emily, and features an Elvis-clad Tomson coming to terms with what life hath brought inside Central California’s Madonna Inn19. Listen/watch here via Stereogum, who called Tomson “a clever and insightful songwriter overflowing with ideas”: http://bit.ly/2jcfgZe

Emily Tomson says of the video:
I think a lot of Chris’ music on this album – and this song in particular – asks questions about different cultural expectations and how those themes actually take on meaning in his life. In this case, placing him in a very specific space with all of the trappings of “love & romance” only to have him end up with a guitar in the bathtub seemed like an interesting way to further those questions.

Dams of the West have also confirmed their first-ever US tour for this Spring, in support of Black Joe Lewis. Full dates below – the itinerary also includes a stop in Austin for SXSW.

Dams of the West’s debut album ‘Youngish American’ is out February 24 on 30th Century Records/Columbia. Produced by Pat Carney of the Black Keys, the album grapples with early-30s ennui and offers casually cutting takes on aging and domesticity. Brooklyn Magazine called him, “on par with Courtney Barnett and Kurt Vile in the ranks of our most affable, self-aware observers,” and Fader and NPR have also come on board early with raves.

‘Youngish American’ is available for pre-order now: http://smarturl.it/YoungishAmerican
